What are the dates of the big Fiesta in
September?"
Can I get to Santa Ponsa by bus from the airport?
Yes, but it can take a couple of hours. However it will cost
only around 4,50 euros (per person). There is a special bus
from the airport into the centre of Palma and then you need the
direct bus to Santa Ponsa. There are other buses but they
travel into Palma Nova and Magalluf and therefore take
longer.
OK, let's start with - What is the weather
like?"
Hot...Between May and October it is virtually sunshine all the
way with very little rain. In July and August it can be very
humid and at night it is very sticky. If you come to Santa
Ponsa over the Winter months you will need to bring a jumper
and/or coat for the evenings because it does go cooler but
there will almost certainly be some stage each day when you can
still enjoy the sun
I am thinking of coming to Santa Ponsa to work
in the Summer months, what do you recommend?
If you are one of those many people who want to come over on
the off chance of getting work - a bit of advice ... come for a
fortnight's holiday at the beginning of the season, May time,
and while you are here look for work and accommodation
(increasingly harder each year). If you get fixed up while you
are here then its a bonus. If you don't then just enjoy your
holiday and use the return portion of your ticket.
If you do get work remember that the people
employing you are expecting you to work, they are not just
paying for your holiday. Every year people start work with
enthusiasm one day, go out on the town that night and then turn
up late for work on day two. They are then surprised that they
are sacked on the spot!
You could also contact Jobs in Mallorca, they may be able to
get you fixed up. Contact them at
Can you organise accommodation for me?
We can't but we can recommend people who may be able to help.
It depends if you want short term or long term accommodation
for the Summer. Long term accommodation is hard to come by, and
is expensive. However, if you are after short term one or two
week holiday lets then you could conntacting Danny Hague who
has the following luxury apartment for rent:
The Santa Ponsa Yacht Club is located on one of the most
beautiful coastlines of Mallorca in one of the island's most
elegant and at the same time most discreet seaports. Unlike
many ports it is a quiet place, perfect for families. It is
integrated into a residential complex with golf courses and
close to many attractive spots, but is only 25 km away from
Palma's international airport.
The port was built in 1975 in a natural cove
called Sa Caleta. It was here on September 11th 1229 that King
Jaime I 'the Conqueror' initiated the conquest of the Balearic
islands, which were then under Islamic rule. This event is
commemorated by the Cross of the Conqueror, located at the top
of the cove and visible from the bay of Santa Ponsa.
The width of the cove (70 metres) guarantees
easy access even in the worst weather. Upon entering the port,
you see the fuel station with its 30-m-long dock, which makes
for easy refuelling.
The visitor experiences a new sensation: a long
shoreline between areas of greenery, with berths for more than
522 boats of lengths between 7 and 22 m. Everything here is
different. It has the feel of a natural port combined with the
necessary infrastructure to cover all the user's needs.
Cafeterias, restaurants, a diving school and specialized shops
are just a few of the facilities offered by the Yacht Club.
The boatyard, covering more than seven thousand
square meters, has a complete array of services including
mechanical workshops, paint workshops, rigging and upperwork
services, nautical carpentry, signwriting, winter storage, a
50-ton travelift, a 9-ton forklift and a 1.5-ton crane for
small boats. Moreover, the port staff and 24-hour surveillance
make this port an ideal place of relaxation for all
international visitors.
